Sony World Photography Awards

Les Événements Sponsart presents the Sony World Photography Awards 2024 exhibition for the first time in Montreal, in collaboration with the City of Montreal, the Quartier des Spectacles and Artpublix. 

Since 2007, the Sony World Photography Awards is a major annual moment recognizing the best photography across the globe today. Considered one of the most prestigious photography awards programs and with an unparalleled reach, the 2024 Awards received more than 395,000 entries from over 220 countries and territories.   

Comprising a range of competitions and programs created to encompass a broad range of international photographers, the Awards honors the photography shaping our visual language. From exceptional series of work with an original approach to narrative (Professional competition), to striking single imagery (Open competition), and the next generation of photographers (Student and Youth competitions), the awarded works bring timely stories to the fore. This Montreal exhibition will feature 24 professional photographs, 29 photographs in the open competition and 2 students, with over 145 images. 

In this exhibition, we see the richness of human experience through the lenses of the photographers recognized in the 2024 Awards. Together, the photographers present a sensitive and hopeful vision of our shared present and future. The exhibition and Awards are partnered with Sony and organized by Creo under its photography strand: the World Photography Organization.  

The next edition of the Sony World Photography Awards are open for entries until 29 November 2024 (Student competition), 3 January 2025 (Youth and Open competitions) and 10 January 2025 (Professional competition).
