One lens, One Year

The #FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS is on my camera 75% of the time as it is and I'm very comfortable working with that lens in just about any situation. That said, if forced to just use a single lens for a year, I might go with the #FE 24mm F1.4 GM  . I think it would train me to get closer to the subjects and also force me to get creative and literally "see" in that perspective. 

#FE 24mm F1.4 GM (SEL24F14GM) is one of my favorites for video. It's perfection on a gimbal!

I completely agree! I got the 50 1.2 and thought I would use it frequently, but I had no idea it would literally never leave my camera! I adore it and use it everyday. 

I know the feeling and it has been worth every penny to me.

My choice would have the be the Sony 14mm f/1.8 GM. I purchased it for my night work but I find myself using it when I have a close foreground that extends to infinity. Most lenses perform best stopped-down for astro work but I don't hesitate shooting this lens wide open - tack sharp!

So true, and I love the sharpness even in the corners. Great lens for interior work and is a dream on light gimbals.

I would go with my 55mm 1.8. It is one of the early Sony lenses, but i still think it is one of the sharpest. And i love the small size - when photographing indigenous cultures i like have a small lens that does not intimidate my subjects.

The 55mm is an OG lens that still has so much value. It's also built like a tank!

Well considering I have to use it for work, portraits, weddings, etc. I would have to go with the 24-70mm F2.8 GMii

Do you have a prime in mind that would allow you to do your work for a year?

I’ve had a lot of success with the underrated Sony FE 100mm F2.8 STF GM

That's a great choice, and I enjoyed using it too. You just need a lot of light, but the ability to use it for macro is a nice feature.

That 100mm is one of the great sleeper lenses of all time IMO. Truly unique, super sharp and with the STF it creates bokeh like no other.

I've shot the entire 2018 with one lens, I've even created a project called OneLensOnly, and it was the Sony Zeiss 35 1.4 

Now I own the Sony GM 35 1.4 and might do it again soon 🙂

I love this question/challenge.

For me, it would be the 35mm 1.4.  I shot this entire short film with it and never felt like I needed anything else. If I wanted a bit longer focal length for portraits I would just change my camera setting to Super 35 mode which would turn my 35mm into just about a 50mm.

The #FE 135mm F1.8 GM is so good and is hard to beat. I'm curious about what you want in an updated version. 

I want a lighter weight, faster AF, and I don't mind a f/1.4. But the weight is what I want reduced.

I’d also agree with the 50mm f/1.2, although the 85mm f/1.4 would be a close second.
