JosephC
If one could take a Sony Alpha Camera on a thru hike, what camera and lens would you take and why? My initial thoughts were the A7iii/iv (as a hobbyist those megapixels are more than enough). Lens, I'm still debating as the zoom gives more options, but is also heavier. The goal is to document or capture moments on the trail, as the hike is the experience versus a photographic objective. #Alpha 7 IV (a7IV) #FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II Products Used FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM IILenses
davidmclain
First off, congrats on deciding to thru-hike. I've never met a person who regretted it. As for the camera, I would recommend the RX-10-IV. In my opinion, it would be the perfect camera for your trip. It's light, relatively compact, and has a fixed 24-600 mm lens. Trust me, you're going to want a long lens on that epic walk. Check it out.
