G Master Macro Lens?

Why doesn't Sony offer a G Master macro lens? Maybe something like the Canon RF100mm F2.8 L MACRO IS USM with 1.4x magnification.

I'm using Sony FE 90 F2.8 G OSS and it rocks hard (at least for me as a wildlife photographer) - bokeh and sharpness are very decent considering its price. It surely can always get better, but in my humble opinion this lens is a killer, that produces stunning shots and won't  be easily replaced 😉

I agree that the Sony FE 90 F2.8 G OSS is a very nice lens. I use it a lot. 

That said, my friend has a Canon EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM and it is superior in my opinion. Here is an image taken with the Canon at F8.

I would agree about the 90mm. I can't imagine what an official "G master" lens would add. The 90mm is the best macro I've ever shot with. Razor sharp and quick to focus.

Looks like I'm the only one who would buy one. Given a sales volume forecast of one unit, it will definitely be a struggle to justify the business case. Oh well. 🙂

The 90mm 2.8 macro lens from Sony is a best, it's one of my favorite lenses, I would't mind seeing a version 2 of that lens but i'm sure if they put the G master brand on it it will be over $2000

Hi Matt, From what I've seen, the Canon macro lens is sharper than the Sony lens, and provides up to 1.4X magnification.

Consider the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG DN Macro Art.  I am not a fan of the sliding clutch style focus ring on the Sony.  The Sigma is a much cleaner design and a pleasure to use.  Optical and build quality is superb as usual for the "Art" line.  The de-clickable aperture ring also make the Sigma useful for video.
