Transferring video to tablet or smartphone

I just recently returned home from a 3 week European trip and downloaded all my pictures to my Samsung Galaxy S7FE tablet.  I noticed that none of my video's downloaded and when I try to transfer just one video the message comes up that says "Cannot perform this operation with AVCHD files".  Can someone explain that to me and let me know if there is a way to transfer my video's?

AVCHD is a proprietary file format, made by sony and panasonic. Not a lot of devices deal with this file format, after all it not the common "playable" format. This of it as something between a raw file with less data info. I suggest you upload them directly into a computer and use an NLE to process them.
