ST
Great Blue Herons tend to be somewhat skittish. If you get too close, they will fly off, bellowing their objection to having been disturbed. I often feel like I've been scolded. On a path I walk almost daily, there is a sparse tree with branches that extend about five metres overhead. On occasion, the Great Blue Herons will sit on one of the branches. They seem unconcerned by people walking below them. Blake Noll
Hello ST. Herrons are such interesting birds to watch. When I lived in Biloxi, I captured this image and you might be able to see the Herron on the right side of the image. ST
The Great Blue Heron seems to think it's a rooster. Taken just before sunrise this morning.
CarolineJensen
I love this! I actually live in a little town called Heron Lake and the blue heron is a common friend here. You inspire me to get out there and shoot!
NVergalla
I love herons! They're frequent visitors to the cemetery nearby, Green-Wood. Spending mornings there making friends with birds is a great way to recharge in the bustle of Brooklyn. These are two of my favorite Great Blue Heron images from a few years ago.
