Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Can you walk through how you focus bracket? Of course, I'd be happy to. First start by composing your image in a way that the layers cascade down towards the camera, so elevate and maybe tilt your camera down.
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Can you walk through how you focus bracket? Then you'll need a tripod so you can keep the camera from moving and hopefully there isn't wind because that can be a killer.
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Can you walk through how you focus bracket? Next, focus on the the closest thing to the camera, then I like to use manual focus and just shift it towards infinity slightly taking up to 5 or 7 images.
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Can you walk through how you focus bracket? Make sure the last image is perfectly in focus on the furthest thing in your frame to complete the bracket.
alpha-jessica-a Posted October 12, 2023 Author Posted October 12, 2023 Question from socials: What's your favorite time of day to shoot? Golden hour is always so lovely!
miar Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 I love your composition for your landscape shots - do you have rules you keep in mind?
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Can you walk through how you focus bracket? Then editing those in Lightroom exactly the same so ensure a smooth stack. Then move them to Photoshop as layers where you can select all them all and align, then stack. It's slightly complex and too much to type here, but hopefully that gets you started.
avmil Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Can you walk through how you focus bracket? This is really helpful, thank you!
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Quote What's your go-to camera and why?? I love the Sony a7R series. Since I am a commercial photographer by trade I want as much resolution as possible. Currently I have an a7RV. Products Used Alpha 7R V (Alpha7RV)Cameras
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 I love your composition for your landscape shots - do you have rules you keep in mind? Thank you and most definitely. The rule of thirds is very important to me because I like my images to breathe. So I use the thirds grid on my LCD screen and make sure to not compose images with a lot of dead negative space.
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 I love your composition for your landscape shots - do you have rules you keep in mind? However, there are exceptions for me such as a crazy sunset or maybe a focus stacked busy foreground. If that is the case then I'd typically include more sky or more foreground.
miar Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Quote What's your go-to camera and why?? The A7RV is my dream camera! Hopefully I'll get to have one in my hands one day. Products Used Alpha 7R V (Alpha7RV)Cameras
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 I love your composition for your landscape shots - do you have rules you keep in mind? I also have a lot of symmetrical images which is probably more my OCD than anything haha. So you'll notice my images being very subject center focused.
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Your photography influences and inspo's? Andrew Willie (@andrewoptics) was my first inspiration because I love urban images. I'm lucky enough to call him a friend and colleague now which humbles me.
aidm Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 What's your go-to camera and why?? That makes sense! For commercial work, is there a lens you gravitate to more?
miar Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 I love your composition for your landscape shots - do you have rules you keep in mind? Awesome, very good to keep in mind, thanks!
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Your photography influences and inspo's? Mike Sidofsky (@mindzeye) is another one that just blows me aways with every images he posts. I love his clean symmetrical frames and how intentional his images are.
emism Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Can you share any advice on working with bigger corporate clients?
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Quote What's your go-to camera and why?? Yes, I use my 24-70 2.8 GM for almost all my commercial work. I love the versatility of it and find myself at 50mm most of the time. If I had to use a prime lens I'd use the Sony 50mm 1.4 GM. Products Used FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM IILenses
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Can you share any advice on working with bigger corporate clients? Absolutely! I'd create a media kit, if you're not sure what this is it's just a single sheet or image that has everything about you and included images.
alpha-jessica-a Posted October 12, 2023 Author Posted October 12, 2023 Question from socials: What do you enjoy the most about shooting landscapes?
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Can you share any advice on working with bigger corporate clients? Before I had an actual portfolio I just took images of things I liked or brands I wanted to work with. I also took free jobs or trade jobs to build my portfolio.
Ryan Ditch Photo Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Can you share any advice on working with bigger corporate clients? Then I would blast that media kit out to the universe. DM brands on Instagram or Twitter (X) as well as send direct emails to contact forms. Lastly, a lot of brands actually have ambassador signups right on their website so find those as well.
