  1. I love these! You have both high and low energy elements....your colors are vibrant and pull in the viewer with a feast for the eyes, while the emotion in your images is more peaceful and contemplative. They are a lovely balance of the two! To dig even deeper, I could parse out the last image and set it aside as more on the low energy side, because you feature an analogous color palette with a peaceful scene. The first image has a peaceful feel, but the vastness of the stars with the jewel-toned sky lifts the energy. Thank you for sharing!
  2. I am an over-the-top editor most days. I turn photos into digital paintings and love to mess with everything in Photoshop. I find balance by shooting sooc jpeg. This practice pushes my brain to not rely on vision and editing only. I’m forced to mind my shadows and highlights, consider my in-camera creative looks (I adore the IN version, as well as BW), white balance, crop and depth of field. I also have to embrace the limitations that come along with jpeg shooting since I can’t rely on the power of raw to recover balance and exposure. The whole process is quite the brain shift and yet also frees my mind—and time! Here are a few examples: Have you ever shot JPEG for the fun of it? Share below!
  3. This has all the beauty! It is so emotive and touches all the lovely notes of grace and composition! Thank you for sharing!
  4. This is incredible advice, it drills down to the part that is unique to each of us…our voice. Touching on business skills and being a pleasant person is so important too.
  5. Scott, I would love to hear more about your creative process around choosing to go straight BW or toned monochrome. I love the variety in your work! What moves you to choose one or the other?
  6. I don’t have this camera yet, but tried it at Kando. It is freaking amazing! I’m so impressed with its versatility.
  7. Thank you so much for being here! Welcome!
  8. This is such a poignant and loving tribute and testimony to the power of photography. You have inspired me so much with your storytelling! It is a reminder to all of us to pay attention to the smaller details and connections. Thank you!
  9. Is there such a think as a pop up mini tent? I used to use a mini tent to change out film and load canisters for developing. I wonder if there is a little pop up option to change lenses in windy conditions. I need one as I have a TON of wind!
  10. I love black and white portraits! I don't do too many lately, but I only photographed in black and white from 2012-2013. This was a favorite. I like backlit silhouettes in BW.
  11. Are you known for a particular image? Is there an image that sparks the most emotion for you? Share below! Please, tell us WHY it is your favorite image. I can't wait to see what you share! This is an image I made this year that I love. I love it because I grew everything in the image. 🌸 So much blood, sweat and tears went into this. Growing roses is dangerous thing. 😂
  12. What are your tips for staying safe? I really want to do this, but out on the prairie, there is very little shelter. Do you stay have the camera outside and then trigger from shelter?
  13. Could you share an example of your work? I use a variety of modifiers for macro, including a light bounced into a white umbrella.
  14. Tony, do you use it with a modifier off camera or are you bouncing it on camera?
  15. My main camera and lens is the a74 and 50GM
  16. Yes, it is an unbelievable lens! It is SO sharp and so fast. I always have it with me!
  17. I went to Sony when then came out with the a7s. I love and need great ISO capabilities and focus peaking was a complete game-changer for me! My eyes need the help of focus-peaking and I wouldn't be able to shoot macro as I do without it!
  18. Well done! I especially loved the shoot with the ballerina in front of the mountains!
