  1. tonygale's post in Does the Sony 7c qualifies for Sony Pro Support Membership? was marked as the answer
The FAQ says two full frame ILC cameras, so the the a7C seems like it would qualify to me, along with a second camera and the requisite lenses.  https://alphauniverse.com/prosupport/faq/

    Good luck

    Hi Erik
They are both great, it really depends on how much reach you need. If you want a lot of zoom, the 100-400 is a great choice.

  4. tonygale's post in Wedding Filmmakers: Sony 20-70 F4 vs the Sony 24-70 F2.8 II was marked as the answer
I'm not a wedding photographer, but I would go with the 2.8, I think it would be useful in low light wedding venues. The 20-70 looks awesome though
  5. tonygale's post in How do you balance portrait and background emphasis in composition? was marked as the answer
What a great location! Fun stuff. I have certainly had similar challenges with locations!
I would consider cropping at the edge just before the sky, and if it was possible, a bit more space on the right with more shadow so the highlight isn't so close to the edge.

Pelican makes a silica gel pack I like, works especially well if you keep the camera in a pelican case because they are sealed quite well https://www.pelican.com/us/en/accessory/cases/desiccant-silica-gel/1500d
You can also get a dry cabinet, https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1348544-REG/ruggard_edc_50l_electronic_dry_cabinet_50l.html

Good luck and enjoy the new camera!

  8. tonygale's post in Does anyone have a portrait sample using 2 different lens like a f/1.2/1.4/1.8 vs. f/2.8? was marked as the answer
By coincidence I shot all these last week, not the exact same lighting setup, but same model and similar framing. The difference in f/stop will change how shallow the depth of field is and thus more or less bokeh. However the focal length will also have an impact, a longer lens with the same framing will have shallower depth of field. Then the lens itself will affect the character of the bokeh. The 100mm STF has smother bokeh by design, but the 135mm has shallower depth of field because it is a 1.8 and a longer focal length.

  10. tonygale's post in Do I look for certain camera specifications for nature/animal photography? was marked as the answer
    Hi DeShay,
Welcome and that is not a dumb question! There are a lot of cameras that would fit the bill for you, did you have a budget in mind?
Some of the newer cameras like the a7IV have animal eye autofocus which can be great! The newest camera the a7RV also has train autofocus! All that said, cameras like the a7III are still excellent if you just want to get started with Sony.

I usually just sell used gear to people I know, or to a camera store, even with the cut they take.
  12. tonygale's post in Minimum Focus Distance was marked as the answer
I just tested mine, at 400mm, the minimum focus was just over three feet
  13. tonygale's post in What are your favorite camera and lens for architecture photography? was marked as the answer
I think I agree, the #Alpha 7R IV (a7RIV) with that 61mp resolution and probably the #FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM is hard to beat
  14. tonygale's post in What is your must have focal length? was marked as the answer
