  1. Hi Burak! It's so great to see you on here 😊 I love this shot - do you do time blending with a lot of your images? It's not something I've considered before, but it makes sense when you describe it.
  2. @Soorya Kiran I love that! It's so similar to what I try to do with nature and conservation photography. I am fascinated with how one type of photography can inform another... I hadn't thought about sports photography a lot but after reading Jean's piece and seeing your shots, it makes me think about new ways to incorporate storytelling
  3. @CanisDirus oh interesting! I don't often use presets, sometimes I take a look at the Adobe ones to get ideas and see what sliders they are leaning into most. But I did recently learn from a photographer I admire that she purchased some presets as a jumping off point - I should probably start using them more... they would certainly save me time with my post processing!
  4. These are great shots! I was just reading this article about Jean Fruth. I am not a sports photographer but I was really interested in how she talked about storytelling. And how she thinks about a story at each game - a player, team or whatever. Do you all do that?
  5. Wow, this is beautiful! What gear did you use to get this shot? Were you in a kayak?
  6. This is beautiful! I love that it's a sea of green, but you can still make out such interesting details all across the shot. What are your post-processing steps?
  7. That's so amazing! I want to start using hides or ghillie suits to photograph wildlife more. It's a great way to get natural shots like these!
  8. @thesaltedimage sure! Here's a link to a clip of selects from an interview I did. For this I plugged the Rode Go II into my Sony a7R IV and it links the audio to the footage, which saves some time in post. You can hear some background noise (birds, wind in the trees, and such) but I think the interview is pretty clean. I hadn't done any processing to the clips at all - audio, color, or anything. This was just for my client to get an idea of things!
  9. So cool to see you featured @Wojtsobi! I love your work, it's stunning. I'd love to hear more about that fox image; did you stake out a place or stumble upon them? Also did you handhold?!
  10. @Grant Robertson thanks for sharing! Sounds like you have a lot going on! I love that you're working towards those goals. Can't wait to see what images (and maybe videos) you make along the way!
  11. I love landscape photography - it is such a joy to see how people make different meaning of different places. I'd love to see one of your favorite landscape photos you took! Here's one of mine, it's a fairly traditional image but it makes me happy 😊
  12. Oh wow, @Anders Engebretsen, these are beautiful! I love the dark tones and the golden light. Were you moving around or was all the variation done with the zoom? Did you use a tripod?
  13. They turned out so well! What was your editing process like? Were you on auto white balance?
  14. I can't imagine filming myself - I don't think I'd be good at it at all! @jasonvong probably has some good insight on this. @thesaltedimage AC units will be the death of me for video work! I use the rode go II with lavaliers, which help a bit. I'm sure higher end mics would help more but for now I'm on a pretty limited budget!
  15. @Grant Robertson Wow, I wasn't expecting that but I'm hooked! I could see you doing a little investigative doc... or even a series you release regularly as you look into it. Now I need you to get to the bottom of it! Do you think you'll work on it? I am particularly passionate about environmental issues so this really peaked my interest
  16. @Grant Robertson How dare they!! I know what you mean, the 6700 looks amazing! And @thesaltedimage I recently got the A7RV and I must say, it's pretty spectacular. Especially the insect eye autofoucs... truly amazing! And I also want to ZV-E1! It's such a small, nonintrusive camera that I think would really come in handy
  17. @thesaltedimage your work is stunning! I just planted some native flowers for the fall, including a ton of goldenrod so I'm planning on taking tons of images of them when they bloom. I think I'll try the studio setup again, definitely something I need to work on! I love the look of creating your own light, I'm just not very good at it yet 🤣
  18. These are awesome! What was your setup?
  19. @alpha-stormy I also have my eyes on the new 70-200! I can't imagine the possibilities for photographing butterflies with it! And then of course I love the look of primes, like the 35mm. I might have an addiction 🤣
  20. I'm still in the processing of switching my whole kit from Canon to Sony, so I'm still slowly building up my kit. That means I have a long wish list! The main pieces of gear I'm proritizing getting are: 90mm macro 24-70 GM II 70-200 GM II What gear is on your wish list?
  21. @Grant Robertson ha! I didn't even think of that! I guess it's all about the context you think in! Yes! I think it will be fun! I'm trying to think of my first topic... probably something outdoorsy to take advantage of the summer. What would your first story be?
  22. @CarolineJensenThank you!! I took a lot of inspiration from your work - next time I'll need to set up a backdrop for the flowers... I thought I could black it out with a high enough shutter speed but I'm not super adept with lighting so I couldn't get it to work. Oooh yay for a pollinator garden!! I can't wait to see pictures! I'm starting to plan out what I want to plant for the fall... it's the only thing getting me through the heat advisory in Virginia!
  23. @LensBrew this is pretty great for what sounds like one of your first attempts! I found being comfortable around bees to take a TON of practice!! What gear did you use?
  24. @LensBrew what a special experience! Thank you for sharing the photo!
  25. Hi everyone! Have you seen this article on mini docs? https://alphauniverse.com/stories/how-to-hone-your-filmmaking-skills-with-mini-docs/ I think I'm going to do the challenge myself, seems like a fun creative challenge! Are any of you thinking of doing it? I'd love to have some friends in on it with me!
