  1. Money, LOL, with this all things are possible. I keep a couple of $10 bills, never know when you need a quick snack and it’s always there (no wife raiding wallet or me forgetting to hit the ATM). A $10 is also handy to have for tip or thank you for access or some other help. A few quarters handy for parking meters.
  2. Understanding aperture. My first camera was a shutter priority Canon AE-1 in 1979 and I think the concept of using a fast shutter speed for fast subjects is more straightforward than depth of field. To me playing with aperture is the more artistic side of exposure, not to downplay what can be done with shutter speed. All of this was compounded by not getting instant feedback on my shots and having to wait a week or more for my film to be developed.
  3. I have an love this lens, but would trade it in a minute for a 24-105 internal zoom or 24-105 F2.8 if that is even possible.
  4. I love my 55 1.8 for the same reasons you list above, but beyond that, I have always liked the perspective of odd sized primes such as a 55 or 45 verses a nifty fifty. I know it's only 5mm, but on tight indoor shots that 5mm can really change the perspective. Especially when wide open on tight shots, the extra 5mm will give me tack sharp eyes but just a hint of softness moving out to the rest of the face unlike the real short depth of field I would get on an 85mm in the same situation.
  5. I would like a 24-105 but in f2.8 not f4.0, and if I am asking for the world (not sure of this is even physically possible), also have the lens not extend when zoomed like the current 24-105 f4.0. I love my 24-105 f4.0 but having it not extend when zoomed would give better weather protection and who would not want to pick up 3 stops.
  6. Thank you. That is a beautiful lens, but thinking it may be a lot to lug around an amusement park or on a hike. What do you think?
  7. Thank you for the info. I have the 24-105, but I was wondering about the 40mm, that could be a nice choice.
  8. Looking for some suggestions on shooting youth ice hockey. I have taken a hockey shooting class that gave us access to AAA hockey in the press box and on the glass which meant a brightly lit area. Looking for some advice on shooting in local rinks which usually have some challenging lighting. Also any tips on white balance, should I go with auto or do a custom set using the ice surface.
  9. Any thoughts on a good walking around town, easy to carry lens. I have the 55mm 1.8 on an A7iv, is it worth it to buy a 35mm. I also have the 24-100 zoom, but I am looking for thoughts on a small easy to carry all in one lens.
