  1. Has anyone tried the new Manfrotto batteries? Do they bypass Sony's 3rd party battery warning? https://www.sonyalpharumors.com/manfrotto-has-announced-new-2400mah-large-capacity-battery-for-sony-cameras/#disqus_thread
  2. Anyone know third party batteries have the chip to get around these lockouts?
  3. Are there any good tricks to remove the "The operation and safety of this battery cannot be guaranteed. Continue use?" warning with third party batteries? Let's step back from the rage inducing logic that Sony took the time and effort to make their product worse via firmware, and share any tips. First, the main screen now blocks out the battery percentage, but you can still see it by hitting the "focus assist" zoom-in button. Anyone else? Are there any 3rd party batteries that now work without the warnings?
  4. My favorite lens is a small, light, manual lens, with a hard focus stop so I can pre-focus before the lens is even at my eye. But we are blessed to be in an era when there are so many good lens choices still out there.
  5. I believe I used to physically tether my A7RIV with Tether Tools to Capture One on my Mac and it often felt like magic. Sorry that isn’t much help.
  6. I emailed Sony themselves, but they say they have no numbers or details...
  7. I spent some time trying a lot of different wireless transfer methods and think I found the fastest/stablest one. It uses my Sony A7rV's FTP feature. But the fastest transfer speed it can reach is 50MB/s while all of the equipment in the pipeline is 2.5Gbps. I wrote up all of the specifics on my website: https://www.daviddegner.com/blog/the-best-wireless-tether-for-sony-alpha-cameras/ Has anyone found a faster/stable method? Any suggestions?
  8. The A7R V is an amazing camera. There are a couple tweaks that would be nice, especially for it's video production. 1) I use manual focus lenses to shoot videos, and often want to punch in to check focus. Unfortunately all the buttons make a slight clicking noise when pressed that can be picked up through my mic. So I would love if, while in video mode, with manual lenses, half pressing the shutter button would zoom in to check focus. 2) Built in GPS...If my watch can have it, my camera should be able to have it. Photo mechanic automatically ingests my location so this is more useful now. 3) The Audio levels indicator shouldn't all be green, when I get close to peaking it needs to turn orange, and red when peaking. All other Sony cameras do this, I wonder why they removed that simple color code on the rV. 4) The tally light should be hidden under the eyepiece on the rear screen. Add it somewhere else so that when the rear screen is folded up I can still look down and see it.
