  1. If you go with wordpress, I suggest you start from Bluehost as the host. And from them you're directed to wordpress. The reason is, you will be guaranteed to have your site built on wordpress.ORG which gives you more tools and freedom than .COM (which is paid extra).

I only reviewed some html and css for extra customization. Other than that, Elementor was excellent (I installed the pro paid version).

Thank you very much for the advice

  2. I design my website using wordpress. I'm an engineer, therefore I like to take more control and enjoy coding my site. It's fulfilling to me personally. But it is also possible for anyone that doesn't want to code, using simple builders like Elementor.

I plan to use either photoshelter or smugmug for my galleries, but my site will be the portfolio.

This looks like fun, will give it a try, I studied software engineering for 2 years back in 2009, lets see if I remember any of it lol

  3. It really depends on what you need. I have used Photoshelter for years and have been happy with them, however I am switching over to aphotofolio because they have a feature that allows people to make pdf portfolio of my work if they need. I think social media is useful, but it is important to have a website that we can control

Good thing I asked because I never heard of either one of them and they sound like a better option than wix and square space

  4. Hello Austin,

Thanks for sharing your stories. My first Sony camera was purchased in 2012 too, the Sony Nex 5N was a very attractive camera at that time. But I couldn't afford to get it. My first Sony camera was a compact WX100. I was quite depressed at that time as a student studying overseas, and I was worrying about anything.. The price of the camera is about 3 days' part-time salary so I had to save up more money for the next few weeks later (because I was a full-time student, it only allows me to work on the weekends). I took the camera with me everywhere since there. I was very happy with its image quality and still keep many beautiful memories from it.

Thank you for sharing your story

  5. Bing Crosby Pebble Beach National Pro-Am PGA golf event - are you ready??? February 1975!

I can only imagine the things you photographed, it must've been a good journey if you are still doing it after 48 years, would love to see some of your work, please share

  6. I got a job back in 2012 shooting the entire sports program for a large university here in Tampa. It was over 500 people done in one day. I thought I had every detail perfect with lighting, naming ,etc… But I never realized that everyone was taller or shorter and I would move the camera slightly for each photo which meant each portrait had to be cropped individually (3-5 poses and outfit changes per person). Wasn’t fun. Luckily I realized early on that people followed me for teaching not photography, so that was the first and last paid assignment I ever did 🙂

OMG 500 people that's too many people for me, so now you just teach photography or something else?

  7. I was paid $40 to photograph a futon and frame for the company that makes it. It was back in 1995 I think, with an old film camera. I did a terrible job!

I always wanted to learn how to develop film, and actually was thinking about getting a film camera and learn how to develop the film and all that, so I looked it up a couple years ago and i'm so happy we are digital now

  8. Hello Alpha Universe,

Tell us about your 1st paid photo session, and what gear you used for it?

My first photo session was with Sony nex 5n and the kit lens, it was for a kid's first birthday back in 2012, I had to google some Ideas and we did it in a public park with some cake and balloons and ended it with the cake smash.

  9. My first Sony camera was the Cyber-Shot DSC-D770.  It was a whopping 1.5 MP and took a PCMCIA memory card or adapter for a purple Memory Stick. You could shoot up to 2fps and the max ISO was 400.

To be honest I had to google this one, it looks like a fun camera back then, do you have any picture taken with it?

  10. My first was the A6000 it was a great entry-level and wonderfully priced mirrorless camera. I used it about 2 years before upgrading to the a7riii. I still have the A6000

I love the a6000, the first picture for me got published was taken on a6000 and old A mount 18/250 lens

  11. My first ɑ was the 7RM3.  I was so impressed I immediately got another and switched entirely to Sony as my primary system.  For years I had constantly switched camera systems and often used multiple systems in parallel:  Canon (EF and RF), Fuji, mFT (both Lumix and Oly).  After my first shoot using Sony I felt like I had finally found exactly what I had been looking for.  Everything just worked.  I stuck with those ɑ7RM3's longer than I had stayed with any single camera in years.  Only gave up the ɑ7RM3 to upgrade to an ɑ7RM4 and ɑ9M2.

That's really cool, when I heard something like your story always wonder if people sell all the lenses ans get Sony lenses or just get the adapter and keep using other brands lenses until they build a Sony lens collection?

  12. Hello Alpha Universe,

I recently got the Xperia 1 IV gaming edition that comes with an external fan and full size HDMI, I love the phone, The screen is unreal and Audio is so rich, and the camera is amazing weather shooting phone or videos, but the phone overheating is really bad, anyone experiencing this issue or did I get a bad one??

  13. I just got AODELAN RMT-P1BTA remote for Sony, it's $27, it works fine except the focus and zoom buttons don't seems to be supported on A7RV, but AF-ON and C1 works, camera shutter work half press to focus and full press to take picture and video recording works too, you have to go to Bluetooth then pairing and Press the shutter and the + and hold them until it connect to the camera, I hope this helps
