  1. Yes I know and I've used Lightroom Classic ever since version 3. I don't mind minor dodging and burning and cropping and enlargement like could be done back in old days of the physical darkroom but I try to avoid digital manipulation as much as possible. Especially adding layers and alike such as you suggest. I attempt to get it as right as possible in the camera.
  2. Can I use C' (Creators) App to send images to a TV as long as camera, 7RM5, and TV are on same Wi-Fi?
  3. @BRAD Is this the Anti-dust Function found in Setup>(13) Setup Option>Anti-dust Function>Sensor Cleaning or' Shutter When Pwr Off? If that's what you're referencing than that is not it because it was set to OFF > The mechanical shutter is not closed when turning the device power OFF. ON > Closes the mechanical shutter when turning the device power OFF. You can prevent the dirt and dust from adhering to the image sensor when changing lens. Since I found that option though I have as of right now set it to ON. But, as I said that cannot be it because is was set to OFF until just now. Unless I'm mistaken, which is highly possible, isn't there a setting somewhere to tell the camera to not allow shutter release without a lens attached? Likewise, isn't there a setting to disable shutter when no card is in the camera or when there is no card in the target slot (1 or 2)? While I was writing this, I just heard the click then, the display went black (blank). Please correct me if I'm wrong (which again is highly possible), isn't that connected to the Setup>(9)Power Setting Option (page 51/56)>Auto Monitor Off>Power Save Start Time or Power Save by Monitor? I have Auto Monitor OFF set for 1 Min; Power Save Start Time 5 min. Power by Monitor set to Both Linked (Enters power save mode when closing the monitor inward. Returns from power save mode when the monitor is opened. I'm not entirely sure what "Both Linked" is referrering to? Both Linked is what I have it set on but I don't believe that is causing the click because the monitor is open to the left side of camera (as I view from the back side). There are 3 more options available Open:Return; Close:Power Save; Does Not Link. Again though, Those cannot be it since they only come into play when monitor is closed inward toward the camera. At the risk of being redundant, I believe what's causing the click is the Power Save Start Time setting which was previously set to 1 Min and changed to 5 min. Can't be Auto Monitor OFF, currently set a 1 Min, because I don't believe the monitor would make a click sound when turning off, which once again I could be entirely wrong. Even though I've had many, many cameras, I don't believe I've ever had one with this kind of option and level of customization. As Gary Friedmann of www.FriedmannArchives.com says in his 7RV 800-page book, "This is probably one of the most complex cameras Sony has ever produced (if you don't count their video cameras), which is why he says explains the "heft of the book". Thanks for reading my unnecessarily long post. Any light you'd care to share will be accepted in the spirit in which it's offered. My Regards, GEGJrPhoto
  4. I just purchased the 7RM5 (9/16/24). Everytime a few moments after I shut it off, or let it go into auto shut-off, I hear a not so faint click. Is that normal? BTW, I do have the LA-EA5 adapter attached. Regards, GEGJr
  5. I am considering purchasing this lens. It will be my first mirrorless or E-mount lens purchase as I just purchased my first Mirrorless and probably last camera (E-mount or any for that matter). I also just sold my A99M2 and A77M2. So, is the issue with camera and or lens firmware updates fixed? I don’t want my leap into E-mount to be regretable. I've been a Minolta, Konica-Minolta, and Sony user for 4 decades. I'd hate to go out on a bad note. Regards, GEGJr
  6. Hi Andy, I am also a relative newbie to this Sony Community. However, I have posted for years on another Sony community at https://us.community.sony.com/s/?language=en_US. I don't know if the two communicate or not. I'm a long time A-mount user; Minolta film cameras HTSI+, Maxxum 9, Konica-Minolta 7D, Sony A700, A77, A77M2, A99, A99M2. I recently, I mean like on September 16th, purchased my first mirrorless camera, a 7RM5. I have high hopes it will be as awesome as all my A-mount cameras. 🤞🏾 Anyway, I too shoot with two SD cards and simultaneously write raw to both cards. I have viewing set to slot 2 and I too like to cull some from the camera. Just like you I noticed culling from from card 2 did not delete the matching image from card 1 and vice-versa. I really don't know why I thought it would. An old salty dog like me should know better. If there is a Sony moderator lurking on this forum, is there a setting on this marvelously customizable camera to delete images written simultaneously to card slot 1 and 2 simultaneously? This camera is so far super awesome. The AF is spot on! I have it set with disable AF with Shutter and AF-ON button set to AF-ON/Tracking-On. I discovered that capability quite by accident. Only issue I foresee is my having the brain power to understand the capabilities and remember the customization I apply. Before I pulled the trigger and purchased I had a loaner through Sony Pro Imaging Support Program membership.
  7. I got email notification from retailer that Sony had released a firmware update for 7RM5 version 3. When I went to link to download the download had been removed. Wondering why I can't find anything here or anywhere else about 7RM5 update version 3.0 being withdrawn from downloads? Apparently there are confirmed reports of the update causing some cameras to have trouble starting up. Is there an expected re-release date? https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/e-mount-body-ilce-7-series/ilce-7rm5/software/00292267
  8. Just thought I'd let you know that couldn't use old IEM App for GPS linkage like in good old A99M2 and A77M2. But, good news is I found it and connected to the camera in the Creator's App. 😀 Wish I could tell you what I did but I honestly don't remember how I found it. Purpose someone else had the foresight to document it? I tried doing a search in camera's online web manual but came up empty. Perhaps a Sony tech is monitoring the post and can describe the process of linking the location data of the phone with the camera? I do know setting it up was much like with IEM App and A99M2. Just don't remember how I found it, sorry.
  9. With my A99M2 and Imaging Edge Mobile (IEM) (previously Play Memories), GPS information would be automatically added to my images as they were taken. It was a great system that saved lots of post-production time. Now with the new 7RM5 and Creator's App can I still use IEM to get GPS data? Or do I have to take all the extra steps of using a tracker on my phone then trying to sync data later in Lightroom Classic or using Adobe Bridge or some other app?
  10. I don't understand the obsession iti avoid minor highlight overexposure. In most situations with widely varying backgrounds it is almost impossible to prevent having some areas overexposed. For example, when the main subject has a background of vegetation and sun is shining on the subject and on background, it is possible to have excellent exposure on the subject (foreground) without being able to control exposure of highlights coming through the vegetation. This can be especially true of landscape scenes or scenes where wildlife is in foreground but dense vegetation with speckles of sun coming through the vegetation in the background. Back in days of only film there was no histogram view and no lcd to see effects of various changes to exposure settings.
  11. Questions for Ms. Fruth I thought posted this here but apparently don't know what I'm doing. So apologize if you see this x2. Hello Ms. Fruth, My name is George. I grew up in a small southern Indiana town during the 50s. Where I grew up baseball was like Friday night football in Texas. Everyone was at the ballpark Friday night and, Saturday day and night. I played the game from pre-kindergarten through the end of high school and then some (American Legion League). My question is where are you typically located during the game or do you move around the park? With all the equipment (lenses) I can't imagine you move around too much, or does someone watch your equipment while you roam around the park? I used to shoot studio portrait photography as a semi-professional as well as some event and wedding photography. I am mostly retired now and mostly shoot as a hobbyist. I primarily shoot wildlife (birds mostly) and landscape with a sprinkling of my grandkids sports photography who range in age from elementary school to college. It's mostly basketball and track & field. Mostly stills with occasional video. I also go to the local MILB games with my camera and one lens because I typically don't have anyone that watches my equipment. If you had to take one lens what focal length (zoom I presume) would take? I typically take my Tamron Piezo Drive 18-270 f/3.5-6.3 non-VC since it's for Sony camera (which btw I still shoot ILCA 99M2 and 77M2) or if I intend to be stationary I take the 70-400 f/4-5.6 G2. I am reluctantly considering purchasing a ILCE-A7M4 primarily for animal and human eye-AF. I hear it's quite good and my eyes and steadiness aren't what they used to be. I look forward to your AMA on the 6\27. Thanks for taking time to read my lengthy post. Best Regards, George, aka GEGJr and OP (short for old papa)

  13. Hi, I'm new to community but I've been in Sony's Other Community for years. Hiw do I join the AMA?
  14. "always find it a bit difficult to actually organize things on my backpacks" me too. As I'm sure you're aware, there is no perfect bag; backpack, messenger, or tote to accommodate photography and hiking. Especially if you plan on being out from dawn to dusk. I too am a coffee person. I typically carry my Adopters but I grind my beans the night before and store them in an airtight container from Planetary Design AirScape (I'm not getting a kickback). They have several smaller sizes that can easily be carried in a backpack, messenger, or tote. I typically use backpack/tote from Case Logic (see attached picture) that has backpack straps but has a top sinched (drawstring) opening at top, two inner vertical padded pockets that accommodate a 13" laptop and either a 10" or 7" tablet (for me they're Kindles). I usually take the padded sectioned insert from my Tenba Messenger DNA 13 (see attached picture) to hold my photo gear that sets at bottom of Case Logic pack. As I said, there is no perfect solution and believe me when I say I've tried every type on the market (I'm 73). I hope I've been a small hope. Regards, GEGJr
