Hey Universe members,
I'm a student in a photography program in Ontario, Canada, and I'm hoping to switch to Sony and start freelance photography while I study. There are a few local businesses and real estate agents that I would love to do commercial photography for.
Our program lets us borrow Canon cameras, and I have a Nikon D3200 that's about a decade old.
I'm looking to focus on photography, but I'd like the option to take some video. I am interested in something mirrorless and full-frame, but I am a bit stuck on the right camera to use getting started.
I keep eyeing the Alpha 7R V, but I was told it would be overkill.
I'd love any and all suggestions.
All the best,
Andrew

I would go with the a74! It is an amazing camera and so easy to use. It is more of a do-it-all camera, which would be perfect for your needs.

Thanks for the suggestion 🙂
This looks like a great option.

Hi Andrew, what's your budget? I find that's often the best place to start when people ask what gear to get.

I agree with @CarolineJensen on the a7IV as a great place to start. I think you are correct to look at full frame if you will be working with real estate. Good luck!
