Wildlife

I am wanting to dive into wildlife photography but want to make sure I have the correct gear! What do y’all recommend?

Hi. My recommendations would be a full frame camera if your budget allows. The new a7r5 is amazing and quickly becoming one of my favorite wildlife cameras. Pair it with the 200-600mm and you have a wonderful combo. Enjoy!

I agree that a nice zoom would be good. I would add on the 100-400, if you can afford it.

I think lenses are really going to depend on what kind of wildlife you're drawn to... if you're looking to shoot birds, I would say maybe the 200-600mm but if you're leaning towards megafauna then I would probably do the 100-400. Then of course you could do macro with the 90mm macro for insects and reptiles.

As @MattK said the a7RV with it animal and bird eye-af would be a great choice, and the 200-600 is a great wildlife lens with tremendous reach.

@CarolineJensen and @bmcdonough have some good lens suggestions as well.

The last thing you might add is 1.4x or 2x tele-extender
