Banding is a definite issue when using silent shutter. as the sensor is being scanned for the exposure and LED lights especially cheap ones pulse during the exposure. The problem seems worse as you get into highter shutter speeds.The solution is to switch to mechanical shutter. Some of the newer Sony cameras have a faster scanning rate and the banding is not as much of an issue
There is an option for Anti-Flicker in the camera. I have used it and didn't face any issues. But I only use this if I have to shoot in silent mode. Otherwise, follow Ira's instruction and use the mechanical shutter.
