[Sony RMT-P1BT not working with New ILCE-7RM5 Help!]

I bought a Promaster Bluetooth Sony Remote  (equivalent)  It does not work either.  I searched on line and found this comment in another blog community for the JJC sony equivalent and that JJC now has and upddated version that apparently works.

I have a similar problem.   It is very narrow, but exists.   I can see light through it.   I was wondering if it might effect the weather seal on the portion that goes up inside the camera where the contacts are.  I was considering putting a layer of waterproof foam gasket in the space.
