  1. IF YOU'RE ALLERGIC TO PEANUTS, IGNORE THIS POST AND SKIP THRU. hahahah jk. digital nuts can't affect y'all...yet...

Spent the day on a food photoshoot. It is difficult to express the food when it comes to consumables that aren't fitting in breadth, depth and continuity. I found that after many hours working with REAL FOOD(lol) that portioning, organizing, and deliberate blocking is what makes food photos successful for the unphotogenic slop.

    For example...

    • rice in a circular shape since rice is naturally curved grain.
    • Cucumber slits to show off the texture and gradually turn it from dark green to light green to show off that green spectrum.
    • The eggs, make sure are perfectly boiled. (could've done better if I had some organic farm fresh eggs, they're more deep orange).
    • Nuts are self-explanatory, the shape is perfect. What helps a lot is including those lil shell husks, to really display that it is a real nut. Not some processed garbagio.
    • Crunchy tiny lil anchovies to show off the light texture.

    IN MY OPINION,

texture might the most important aspect in food photography. The only sense that can be conveyed over the granules of where the light goes in/out like how a deep valley can showcase the entire drop range of shadows. Here, working with little to no shadows help since I didn't like how something could be missing. However, in-between the food containers can show that it might be floating? I liked this look so I leveraged it as part of the look, the void devouring anything and bringing more importance to the food within the containers. The Malaysian translation, "Habis" (ah-bis), meaning complete, finished, lack thereof, void of what was existing, without a trace of existence. Sorry, translating words into English is soooo lacking, curse that English is rising from the West and sets into the East of language structure.

Overall fun shoot, working with real food is a lot of work and becomes hectic. Also, the sun and using some sort of LED lights helped a lot, the A9III NR shooting stack helped a lot.

No photo was harmed with photoshop, pure IEDT for my photons. I have been going back to simple edits due to my mental state not liking AI, but as I post this photo, I know the algorhythms will improve the Nasi Lemak generations. Kinda inevitable when you want to pursue content creation.

But I hope people will take the extra time to take a photo of their foods, the AI algorhythms need to munch on a lil human food to become more human.
