Yay! Prairie conservation is my thing!

What are you doing to stretch your creativity or talent this year? I am determined to get in the water with my floating photography raft. I injured my knee and I think shooting in the water will be a nice thing, except for mud. 😂 I also want to get out of the studio and shoot more in-situ. What are challenges you are taking on?

I have an assortment of different things! I have several prints from other photographers, Eliot Erwitt, Robert Capa, Eli Reed and more from the Magnum square print sales. Alfred Stieglitz, Natalie Fobes, Pete McBride and more. Plus some of my own, mostly landscapes or pictures of my daughter, like these
It sounds like you have quite the gallery! Your baby is growing up so fast!!! She's so adorable!

That's a cool idea! I have SO many from a gallery show I did in 2014 and many are duplicates. I should put them out in my Vrbo!

Welcome! Please, share any images too!

Haha! That is awesome, Tony! It could only be better if you had water splashing around it. 😂

Happy Holidays Everyone!!
I'm a landscape and wildlife photographer, and I'm currently using the Sony A7III. I want to upgrade within the next couple of weeks and I'm looking for some advice/direction on what would best suit my type of photography. I'm considering the Alpha 7R IV thoughts or suggestions?
You will need high resolution so you can crop in, correct? I was going to mention the new a9III, but I know that wildlife shots often require a heavy crop and so the IV or V may be a better choice. If tracking fast movement is your main objective, then the a9III all day long. 🙂

I actually did NOT get any camera gear for Christmas. In an attempt to avoid knee surgery, I purchased a whole body vibration machine to help rehabilitate my knee. Not a fun purchase and I'm so sad I didn't have that money to spend on gear. 😩 Did you get any fun gear? What was it and how do you like it?

I love this! It really does give it that "hero" look. How far away were you when you took this?
Not far! I think I was a couple feet away! It is great for getting in close. I really didn't crop in all that much.

Oh man...backgrounds. That is why I adore the inverse square law. I don't necessarily love black backgrounds, but it sure makes portraits easier!

Thanks for sharing these images and for the idea. I checked the minimum focus distance of the
- FE 24mm F1.4 GM is 0.24 m (your lens)
- FE PZ 16-35 MM F4 G is 0.24 m - 0.28 m
- FE 50mm F1.2 GM is 0.4 m
Every year my family has an amaryllis competition. This year, my unlucky choice of bulb has not changed in four weeks. These were all shot at the minimum focus distance according to the focus indicator in the viewfinder, at f/7.1, handheld, illuminated with a couple of small, LED desk lamps.
16 mm (225% crop)
35 mm (120% crop)
50 mm (160% crop)
Thanks, @CarolineJensen,
This was fun.The lens works awesome here!! Amaryllis are stinkers! I can never seem to get them to bloom when I want them to! 😂
What aspect of conservation photography would you like to grow in?

We conserve native prairie and my goals include spreading awareness of the amazing bio-diversity of the prairie. It looks like 'just grass', but it has literally thousands of species of plants and insects that are in jeopardy.
