Have you ever dialed in the exposure manually? I find these tricky situations are easier to tackle if you can dial in things exactly for that moment. I like to set my shutter speed to indicate the style (soft or sharp clouds, movement or not) and then choose my aperture..again to determine the look. The ISO then can be chosen to get the image just the right brightness. I have always struggled with any priority mode!

Thanks, Caroline.
Although I'm not in the market for a new camera body right now (waiting for the successor for the A1), I've looked closely at the specifications for the A7RV and A7CR and wondered why anyone would choose the A7CR over the A7RV. The difference in size and weight were immaterial to me since, most days, I'm carrying the A1 with the FE 200–600 mm F5.6–6.3 G OSS and A7IV with FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II or FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS.
I appreciate the insight into your different use case. Thank you.The biggest for me is the weight issue. I shoot one handed so often, my carpal tunnel appreciates a lighter set up. I think the a7rc would be great for a traveler who popped that and one or two primes in their purse.

Gorgeous! I have a UK friend that lived in UAE for a while and yes, the heat was something else!

I edit as little as possible most of the time!
That definitely makes life better, haha! My still life images are usually very close to sooc. Light is everything!

I really like the moody style more. Kind of in a similar problem as you. For outdoor portraits I usually like shooting with the sun as it makes good contrast and interesting shots but in studio I love the black and low key looks as I can control the light
Yep, I am right there with you!

Ok, so I only had my hands on the new a7CR for about three hours and flowers were scarce on the mountain at Kando, but I did find a thistle. 😂This has me rethinking my love affair with my a7R5. Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE my a7R5 and have shot with it everyday for over a year, BUT I shoot one handed all. the. time. I hold a flash with the other hand and the CR is substantially smaller and lighter. If you want all the resolution and a small package, you might want this camera. My carpal tunnel is begging me to sell something to get this one. 🙂

I love this! I actually live in a little town called Heron Lake and the blue heron is a common friend here. You inspire me to get out there and shoot!

I'm still looking for mine. Since I'm shooting different genres, it is difficult to narrow them down. I've recently created a number of style presets to tweak and find what I like. But each light leads me in a different direction too. I guess I'm adapting to light, time of the year and subject matter.
I'll come back when I'm 95% sure.
Honestly, working with light will really challenge the diversity of your images and do nothing but good things for your work! Flowing with the light and putting your mark on it is a goal for every photographer. I’m definitely not rigid in my style as our mark in our work really is this essence that underpins each image, beyond the superficial style.

Isn't Yellowstone amazing? I would love to go back. I was stuck in a park bathroom for an hour once because a buffalo was usual the drinking fountain outside the door. 🙂

I miss birth photography. I did that back in 2007ish and it was so fun, but the hours were terrible, haha!

Love these, Drew! I like to use a flash in a 24 inch diffused umbrella to pop on my main subject. I haven't used the Rotolight, but it looks interesting!

I would have the same question for the new a6700. It has focus bracketing, but will that only work for natural light or, perhaps, continuous lighting?
Yep. I guess bracketing lets you use less light in theory, as you can use a slower shutter, but I'd like to use it with strobes and just get the best and sharpest deep depth of field possible.

I have TWO. I know, I know...consistency, but I have two and I won't budge. 😂 I have cheerful Caroline and dark and moody Caroline. I like both for different reasons. The light and colorful is fun for uplifting bright and airy rooms (I make art for short term rentals and they often want bright colors); while the dark and moody are perfect for a more elegant space.
Cheerful Caroline

Hey all! I thought it would be fun to share our June photos.
My landlord installed a honeybee hive in our backyard so I've been playing with my Sony A7RV and the Sony 90mm macro. I was also inspired by @CarolineJensen to practice my botanical photography with off camera flash (still need to work on that one!)
Also, I helped my brother shoot a film and we got to use crazy fun lights. I added a few BTS photos from the shoot.
What were you up to in June? Share your photo dump here!
Woot!!! Love this, Brooke! ...and yeah for the bees!!! I just ordered 48 trade packets of pollinator varieties for a new pollinator garden AND used my grant money to get hundreds of new plants too!

Is there a way to do this with strobes? The bracketing happens so fast, but there must be a way? Has anyone used strobes for this? Are there settings I need to change?

These are gorgeous!
