  1. I def agree on that. I always say refine the skillset, and then the gear will help you elevate the skillset. There are alot of people who dont understand this however unfortunately
  2. I know we *should* vlog with a topic or keyword in mind, but I gotta be honest. I like for vlogs to be "free". Meaning not bound by the shackles of SEO, keyword optimization, etc. Conversely, you kind have to if you want your otherwise unsearchable video to become, well..searchable. Its a dance that frankly I hate having to do
  3. I am a person who doesn't think gear really matters when it comes to the reality style vlog videos we love to make. Good content that looks sub-par beats pretty content that boring. I mean sure, it helps, but Mr. Beast got his first 6M+ subs using just a cell phone. The question is, have YOU ever felt like gear was a limiting factor for you when creating vlogs, and if so, why, and how did you overcome that feeling?
  4. I personally think that people who lead extraordinary lifestyles are the perfect people to vlog. When you live a lifestyle that most only get to dream of, just sharing your daily experiences, is enthralling to people, even if it's boring to you. Think about how many times you have watched a video of someone just living their life. I would be doing a lot of day in the life style videos (just my opinion), and that would be your "fresh experience". As you probably know, there are a lot of clearances involved, and a lot of prohibited filming in certain places and times with sports teams/players. So just be mindful of that. I think you should just commit to sharing your lifestyle with people and see where it takes you! You could also interview them or something similar to spice things up. As far as the ZV-E10, it's a great content creation camera, but handheld vlogging is not its strong suits. (the crop and rolling shutter make handheld shooting pretty unusable). Now on a mini tripod? its a fantastic little camera with amazing image quality and loads of features.
  5. for my hybrids win. I love video and photography the same, so having both in one camera is amazing. I do like using old cameras tho. We get spoiled by the amazing cameras we have now. Those older cams give us a reminder of what things were like when WE were growing up!
  6. literally the worst. lol. Talking head video with no b-roll, second angles etc? 20k views in two hours. That video you spent a week on? a straight 10/10 lol
  7. yep! its also fulfilling when you feel like something "failed" and then you re-purpose it as a reel or something and it gets traction. Great feeling of a good payoff from not giving up
  8. I think there was a fad for a while where we needed all those crazy whip pans, swoosh effects, etc. And let's not forget zoom transisitions lmao. I think those still work for short form content. But for YouTube vlog stuff? I much prefer the smoother vibe. Also, I think we have to remember, that people are watching us...FOR US. I think all the extra stuff sometimes disconnects us from our viewers!
  9. Happy New Years! I think it's silly to expect everything we create to be a "winner" right? Some projects and vlogs are just going to fail. Whether its bad footage, bad audio, the story just didn't click, etc. THERE WILL BE VLOGS THAT YOU WON'T WANT TO POST. HOW DO I KNOW? IT JUST HAPPENED TO ME! I went out of town for a few days recently, and figured I would vlog the experience. Started off great! The first two days I was all in. The 3rd day, to be honest, I felt like I was forcing the vlog, and I kind of fell out of love with finishing it. So, I just didn't. So there I was, plenty of footage from the first two days, and then, just nothing after that. It's open ended, no conclusion, and I was about to DELETE the whole thing. Then I remembered, TERRY, DON'T!! If you put your time and effort into something, even if it doesn't go as planned, RE-PURPOSE IT! Take snippets and turn it into short form content for IG, TikTok, Youtube Shorts, etc. Use snippets for color grading reels, failed audio reels etc. IF YOU PUT THE WORK IN ON A "FAILURE", TURN IT INTO A WIN IN ANOTHER WAY!! LET'S CRUSH THIS NEW YEAR!!
  10. NAS here. For what we do its necessary if you want to keep and protect older footage
