lmontes1974
Hi every one.My old Alpa 99 had gps, and was great. Now with the alpha 1 you need to be connected to your cell phone or some apps to get that info. Any suggestions to have an easy solution for this?
LensBrew
By removing the GPS system from the camera, they reduced the weight and power consumption. I believe this is a great move, especially for people who don't want to take the geolocation of their images. Now that being said, using your phone gps is very easy. You can use any gps app to track yourself, and you can download the routes you've taken during your walks, hikes and any method of transportation. If your camera clock is properly set, you can upload you gps data into lightroom and the images will synch up with respect to the geolocation based on an image time stamp.I believe these 2 videos will make a lot more sense:Â Â
CarolineJensen
Yep, size and weight is always a premium. Apple computers seem to do the same thing. 🙂
gegjrphoto
With my A99M2 and Imaging Edge Mobile (IEM) (previously Play Memories), GPS information would be automatically added to my images as they were taken. It was a great system that saved lots of post-production time. Now with the new 7RM5 and Creator's App can I still use IEM to get GPS data? Or do I have to take all the extra steps of using a tracker on my phone then trying to sync data later in Lightroom Classic or using Adobe Bridge or some other app? gegjrphoto
Just thought I'd let you know that couldn't use old IEM App for GPS linkage like in good old A99M2 and A77M2. But, good news is I found it and connected to the camera in the Creator's App. 😀 Wish I could tell you what I did but I honestly don't remember how I found it. Purpose someone else had the foresight to document it? I tried doing a search in camera's online web manual but came up empty. Perhaps a Sony tech is monitoring the post and can describe the process of linking the location data of the phone with the camera? I do know setting it up was much like with IEM App and A99M2. Just don't remember how I found it, sorry.
