  1. I believe the only RAW recorder on the consumer market (currently) that has 16-bit RAW recording is the Atomos NEON, but the only camera Sony makes that will output an actual 16-bit signal to it specifically is the FX9 (with raw extension unit); for all others, you're likely only going to see a 12-bit solution via their other RAW recorders. That being said I've heard talk of a couple of lower-end 16-bit recorders coming out next year possibility but we'll see how that goes.
  2. 100000000% and it's coming one way or another. I'm looking forward to the day when there's so much information captured in the image that we can change nearly all specs of the shot to create more shots or different compositions within the same frame and not lose quality. AI will definitely get us there.
  3. Definitely, that would be a solid feature to have. The only issue would be it would need a constant internet connection. The only way you could do it now is if you coordinated with the other photographers, gathered in one location, and manually set your internal clocks all at the same time... like a heist movie 😉
  4.   I'm with Gary - without a doubt, New Zealand!!
  5. Always enjoy motion blur in portraits - great action feeling!
  6. You had me at fur-babbies. They're the best subjects to shoot!!
  7. With AI encroaching in the photography workspace now, I thought it was the perfect time to bring up this question! Because today's technology allows users to simply do one-click edits of adding a new sky, light element(s), or even a new or additional subject to your original photography, I'm curious if people believe this type of art is actually considered photography. Or should it be labeled as a Photo Illustration, much like AI photography is going to be labeled as? Also, is stacking imagery from the same scene (with minor differences in composition/exposure) still considered a photo as well if you're taking elements from other photos and combining them after the fact? (Example below). I'm always curious as to what others think so let's get this discussion going!
  8. Loving the moon shots! Welcome to the community 🙂
  9. Had the amazing luck to capture Manhattanhenge a couple of years back at the top of one of Tudor city's best buildings to view it from. Always a magical experience!
  10. Yeah, 8k is slowly being adopted at stock agencies and I expect that to increase even more as 8k becomes standardized (by late 2023 or early 2024).
  11. Love the autumn colors and I like the centering of the tractor - my only comment would be to have a bit more contrast in the shot and the tractor (it blends into the background too much). Would love to see those blacks pop a bit more!
  12. Absoultely! RAW always trumps anything compressed (in my book). I can't wait for RED's patent to expire in 2026 so we can finally have true RAW in our cameras in 2027. I definitely feel like 8k is the future (or present depending on who/what you deliver for) but 4k is still just as good in most situations.
  13. There may also be other solutions as well (that are cheaper). What exactly are you trying to do with (2) laptops connected to the camera at the same time? Are you looking to control the camera with one laptop and then monitor the feed via the 2nd laptop?
  14. Hi Tanay - You can only have (1) video stream happening at once if you're not using a video switcher (which then splits up the signal). You can have a monitor out (so you can view it on a monitor) and one PC-remote (so you can view/control via your laptop). If you're trying to use (2) laptops at the same time you'll have to purchase a video router, such as the blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro found here - "https://www.amazon.com/Blackmagic-Design-ATEM-Stream-Switcher/dp/B086R79PBC/ref=sr_1_10?gclid=CjwKCAjws--ZBhAXEiwAv-RNL9MHoZPO7wz_XDimZizKfIIYidVoygxwpbK0tNaK46kOXTsd2P1XpxoCHG4QAvD_BwE&hvadid=177338375174&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9008141&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=b&hvrand=2016724657594914444&hvtargid=kwd-41345503570&hydadcr=19166_9664598&keywords=black+magic+atem+television+studio&qid=1664891443&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIzLjczIiwicXNhIjoiMi44NSIsInFzcCI6IjIuMjQifQ%3D%3D&sr=8-10&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.c3015c4a-46bb-44b9-81a4-dc28e6d374b3"
  15. Yeah, choosing 1 lens would be truly hard considering so many amazing lenses are out there. I think the 24-105G is one of the best all-around lenses (IMHO), so I never leave home without it 🙂 I think the 24-70Mk2 is also fantastic!
  16. One of the biggest benefits to using the Alpha 1 (that I see) is its ability to capture 8k video in full 4:2:2 color, something you can't really do with any other Sony camera, aside from the Venice 2. I often have other shooters tell me they don't shoot in 8k but after I show them how I can manipulate the image in 4k by recomposing, adjusting the frame, creating 2 completely different shots, or adding dynamic motion their tune quickly changes! (Here are two shots from the same frame, both telling different parts of the story in 8k). My question for the community is how often do you film in 8k and are you taking advantage of the resolution when you do?
  17. Yeah, I agree, S-Cinetone is like the perfect middle ground for pre-graded footage with just enough latitude to allow you to make meaningful changes without having to dive too deep into the actual color grade. It's definitely faster than grading SLOG2/3. The only time I've seen SLOG2/3 outperform S-Cinetone is when it comes to drastic changes of light/exposure in the scene and something is super blown out. It also works better for HDR content.
  18. I'm always a fan of being able to control my highlights, mid-tones, and shadows in post so I usually do most of my filming in S-LOG3/S-Gamut3.Cine. I'm curious how many people shoot in PP11 (S-Cinetone) vs PP7/8 (SLOG2/3) and why. Do you like doing your own color-grading or do you prefer to have it already baked in before you get to editing? Let me know what your favorite go-to settings are!
