  1. Seeing black and white prints being processed for the first time and seeing the magic of the image appearing on the paper in the darkroom sealed the deal for me. I love the process of capturing life and moments; sharing them with everyone is the added bonus!
  2. Thanks for sharing - great read!

    DSLR Alphas

While the DSLRs are great, it's probably best to steer clear of them since they're no longer in production. Mirrorless is the future for sure. That doesn't mean you still can't get great photos from the DSLRs though. I'm sure there are lots of great deals out there if that's what you're looking for.
  4. Really want to head down to Patagonia - never been there and always wanted to capture its beauty!
  5. The more aperture blades the better! Love the 24mm 1.4!
  6. In the winter months, it can be tough for a lot of photographers and cinematographers because it's the slowest season for many. If you want to stay motivated one of the best suggestions I can offer is to go out and try something completely new. Do something that you've always wanted to try and see what comes of it. It doesn't matter the outcome of the final product but you'll teach yourself something new that may lead to new and exciting opportunities down the road. Hoping for the best for everyone in 2023!!
  7. Speaking strictly of value, the A7SIII is likely your best choice if you want to do both photography and video. It's a low-light beast and it's great for both. The FX30 is also a good choice if you really only want to shoot video though. You can't go wrong either way 🙂
  8. I've seen a lot of questions regarding the best way to back up, store, and manage content (both photos and videos). If you haven't already looked into a DAS (Direct Attached Storage) or NAS (Network Attached Storage) there are a ton of options out there and it's super beneficial, especially if you're shooting with high-resolution sensors. A NAS offers the ability to create multiple data pools where you can store/access all of your content via ThunderBolt3/4, 10GBe ethernet, or via the web. It's probably my favorite storage solution. If you use a 10GBe connection you can even use it to work off of (transfers around 800-1000MB/Sec) which makes it great for 8k footage use across multiple workstations. What storage solutions do you prefer using?
  9. That's awesome to hear how you've been so successful on YouTube because of the Kando experience. You've done a great job of staying consistent and putting out great content. Keep it up!!
  10. Love the A6400! Used it many times as well with the 50 1.8 (it's a great combo!) - you can do so much with it and the image quality is fantastic. Glad you got a chance to use it!!
  11. I'm a (2) Body, (4) lens kind of guy! I always bring a variety of lenses that go from 12mm to 200mm. But, I will admit that when I do city stuff I try to minimize as much as possible. One body, and a solid zoom. Either the 24-70II or the 24-105. Both are fantastic and light-weight!
  12. Manual all the way!! Although to be fair, setting it to P mode works great too if you're in a rush - haha.
  13. I highly recommend investing in a solid NAS (Network Attached Storage) system for archiving, backup, and even operations. It's a great way to store files locally but also be able to access them from anywhere in the world.
  14. Hey FatBeard - I don't speak for Sony either, but will agree with the things that Patrick stated. There were a lot of factors that went into this year's event, and most of them dealt with COVID (and the liability surrounding it). We had quite a few people that had to leave or couldn't come because of it. I hope and imagine that once things start picking back up again that Kando will return to its true form. I too miss all of the interactions with old friends and new so I would believe that Sony will do its best to accommodate that in the future.
  15. If there's a story to be told, and the footage you have tells that story, keep it. Use it. And improve upon it.
  16. I spent a couple of weeks out in the deserts of Moab and the frozen Canadian Rockies of Banff and was truly amazed by the amount of detail, dynamic range, and clarity that the new A7RV was able to produce. I was using it in tandem with my A1 and got very excited about just how beautiful the image quality is and how much information I could pull from the file. This is a landscape photographer's dream camera for sure! Do you plan on getting the RV or sticking with the RIII/RIV?
  17. The new 24-70II or 24-105mm are probably my 2 favorite walking-around lenses so that you can enjoy all of the focal ranges and not kill your back in the process.
  18. Step-up rings are probably your best bet OR you can use the Sensor clip-in filters and those work amazing too. No need to remove anything, you just leave the filter over your lens and have the ability to swap out any lens with ease.
  19. I think you and I are in the same boat, I love shooting astro with the A7SIII. I wish it had a little more resolution to it but then it wouldn't be as easy to capture the night sky! Great combo!
  20. 2023 is going to be a whole new ballgame I suspect. Can't wait to see the update to your website! I'll be doing the same.
  21. Welcome and great to have you! Enjoy watching your video - nice work on the hyperlapse & timelapse. It looks like you lead an exciting life!
  22. Fantastic shots my friend! Loves each of these compositions. Color, texture, and placement is wonderful! Keep up the great work.
  23. The RX100 VII is probably one of the best 'pocket' cameras I've ever used. Super slim, great photo quality, and gets the job done.
  24. What a fantastic collection of imagery! What an experience I bet!
  25. Thanks for posting some bird photos!! Love the owls - beautifully captured and great compositions!
