  1. I look at other types of art to get inspired and flip through some photo books. I bought a couple of concert tour books from ebay and the art/photography in the books are so inspiring.
  2. I actually love these vlogs as well. Especially the ones that are day in a life.
  3. When covid hit I went back to what made me fall in love with photography, my family. I started to document everything. I didn't share much, but what I did share landed me my first editorial client. Since then, I've been trying to find ways to merge the two to get more of that type of work.
  4. I normally don't offer wedding photography. But, earlier this month I was invited to a photography class on lightning to help out another photographer friend (and learn a few things). These are some of the images I took from the course. Is there a photography genre that you normally don't shoot, but that you've wanted to try?
  5. I plan to do more day in the life vlogs/films with my family along with some demonstrations/How to videos with voiceovers.
  6. Going with my theme of family this year. I want to finally do a multimedia project where I take scans of my parents old photos along with new images of them and they talk about parts of their lives. My dad used to be a minor league baseball player in the 70's. I'd love for him to talk about that while I show photos from him from that time, along with photos of him playing baseball with his grandsons.
  7. I needed something smaller and not as heavy. I had a big DSLR and found that when I was playing with kids at photo sessions, the heavy camera would swing around and hit the kids. 😬 I started with the A6000 and worked my way up to the A7 line.
  8. I did a lot of genealogy and family research over the past year. One of the things I want to try to do is travel to these places and use the old addresses I found on the census and phone book records and photograph them.
  9. Hi everyone. I'm culling images to submit to the New York Times portfolio review and wanted to ask if someone can look over these images and give me honest opinions. The requirements are to submit up to 20 images from 1 or 2 projects. I want to show that I can do a mix of lifestyle and casual portraits. Any help will be greatly appreciated. https://adobe.ly/3kiUYBp

    Stopmotion

I don't have any recommendations, but you should definitely follow Sony Alpha Female Collette Peri. She does amazing stop motion content https://alphauniverse.com/stories/what-s-in-my-bag--colette-peri-s-kit-for-stop-motion-video/
  12. Hi everyone, Does anyone know why my ZV-1 is making a grinding noise? It happens when I turn the camera on/of and when I extend the lens. It worked perfectly yesterday and when I turned it on this morning to record some content, it started making this sound. Other than the noise, it still takes images and records video with no issues. Can this be repaired? (unlisted video)
  13. I watched Robert Downey Jr documentary on his father titled Sr. and it made me want to something similar with my own family.
  14. I love this idea! I know its not the 1st, but I think I may join you on this project. I was just talked about practicing shooting and editing video and this looks like the perfect setting for that.
  15. I'm really happy with the A7IV and 24-70. I just really need more practice using (and editing video). I think the 16-35 and 90mm would round out my kit.
  16. I'm working on some lifestyle shoots for stock photos. Its helps me stay creative during the winter months.
  17. I'm a fan of the 24 f2.8. I use it for lifestyle portraits, travel and events.
  18. There's an Instagrammer I follow that vlogs by showing herself doing seemingly mundane things. She rides her bike, reads a book, make cookies and so on. She very rarely does talking head videos. I love this idea and its something I want to explore in 2023.
  19. I definitely want to create more personal work in 2023. Its funny because my personal work is what got me noticed and for some reason I thought I had to do more "serious" work to be a professional photographer. I really burned out this year taking jobs that really didn't fit who I am as a photographer. 2023 will be different.
  20. I carry the ZV-1 as my everyday camera. It's small enough to into any bag and I can easily switch between video and photo. I also have the wide angle lens for it and a small led panel just in case I need more light.
