  1. These are really great @bmcdonough I love the Spring and Summer for macro photography; there is an abundance of colour and insects. Here are a few of my favourites.
  2. Thank you so much, Caroline! That means a lot coming from you.
  3. Photographing flowers is fascinating. I enjoy capturing the vibrant colors, intricate textures, and blurred backgrounds. Although I haven't photographed many, it's a subject that deeply interests me. Here are a few of my favourite flower images from the past year.
  4. In the past year, I've developed a newfound passion for bird photography. It was when I purchased my first 600mm lens that I became fascinated by these incredible creatures. I have captured a few photos of them, and here are some of my favourites. The owl is my all-time favourite bird species, and I photographed it last January just outside of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Both eagles were photographed during my visit to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. While capturing these beautiful creatures, I've had my fair share of failures and challenges, given their fast and unpredictable nature. However, I love the thrill of bird photography and the excitement of trying to capture the perfect shot.
  5. One of my primary goals as a photographer for 2024 is to hone and develop my skills in wildlife photography specifically. Over the next years, I plan to upgrade my gear and equipment to ensure I have everything I need to capture high-quality images of animals in their natural habitat. I also want to spend more time in nature, observing and learning about the different species and their behaviours to anticipate better and capture those perfect moments. This was captured last week in Fundy National Park, New Brunswick. I'm excited to take on this challenge and see where it takes me in my photography journey!
  6. That eagle photo is awesome!
  7. Oh my goodness, I just saw this post! Thank you so much for choosing my photo for the Blue Hour Challenge! I can't express how grateful I am, it really means a lot to me!
  8. I believe that both technical skills and meaningful experiences contribute to the impact of a photo. One of my most significant photos of the year was taken on my birthday during a trip to Cape Breton Island. I had been wanting to visit for years, and my family planned a birthday getaway for me to pursue my passion for photography. On Halloween, we explored Cape Breton Highlands National Park, and I took advantage of the unpredictable weather that ranged from rain and snow to sun and even two rainbows. I set up my gear on a coastal beach to capture long-exposed sunset shots, and I was not disappointed. The sky had a small opening on the horizon, providing a perfect opportunity to capture the sun's rays splicing with the dramatic sky in the background. The sky illuminated several parts of the water and rocky coastline. I stood in the cold water as waves rolled in, full of adrenaline, working hard to stabilize my tripod against the crashing waves. I repeatedly wiped the neutral density filter to ensure no water droplets on the lens, timing the crashing of the waves for the long exposure shot I had envisioned for quite some time.
  9. Hi Caroline, thanks for getting back to me on this. Ideally, both heavy crop and fast tracking would be what I'm looking for, but if I had to choose one or the other, it would be a heavy crop. I have been shopping around, and I keep coming back to the IV every time. Thanks again for taking the time to assist me. 🙂
  10. Happy Holidays Everyone!! I'm a landscape and wildlife photographer, and I'm currently using the Sony A7III. I want to upgrade within the next couple of weeks and I'm looking for some advice/direction on what would best suit my type of photography. I'm considering the Alpha 7R IV thoughts or suggestions?
  11. Hey, thanks for sharing this with me; it helps tremendously. I'm going to give it a try, and I'll let you know how I make out. Thanks again, have a great day!
  12. For me, it's eagles and owls in flight. I feel as though I have had many opportunities as of late, but by the time I get close enough and my settings are ready, they fly away before I get a chance to get that perfect shot with their clear, crisp wings in flight.
  13. As a mother, there's nothing quite like the joy and contentment that fills my heart when I'm spending time with my little three-year-old son amidst the breathtaking beauty of nature. It's truly heartwarming to see him develop an innate love and appreciation for the outdoors and wildlife at such a tender age. Watching him feed the birds with such a gentle and caring demeanor is a sight to behold. Every moment spent with him in nature is a precious memory that I'll treasure for a lifetime.
  14. Hello Everyone, I took this long exposure photo on a recent Cape Breton Highlands National Park trip. I used my tripod, ND filter, Sony A7 III, and FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM lens. This day had odd weather patterns, from rain to snow to sun, all within moments. There was a narrow gap on the horizon with few clouds, so I set up my gear and put on my rubber boots, anticipating a sky rich in colour, and I was not disappointed. The sky lit up with magnificent clouds full of colour. As the tide came in, I stood in the cold water, splashed by each crashing wave, trying to capture that perfect smoke effect from the water on the rocks.
  15. Hello Everyone. This is my first post. The photos of the crow were captured this morning just before sunrise, and the full moon photo was captured during the last full moon. Hope you like them and everyone has a great day!
