I wouldn't personally travel with it packed as pictured above. I've flown with a 600/4 several times in a ThinkTalk Airport Security roller and had no concerns.

The firmware site (https://alphauniverse.com/firmware/) shows the A1 as having the update available, but when you click the link only last year's version can be downloaded. I'm curious to hear experiences from those who update right away. With MLB Opening Day tomorrow and seven games in a row, I'll probably hold off for now.

That's my plan. I got to use the A9III at the college football national championship game, but there was nothing about it that made me want to trade in my A1s at this point.

Can't the A1 do this already? I use the "Display as Group" feature all the time and can delete entire bursts at once.

I disagree on the point-and-shoots. If these students are planning to pursue a professional photography career they need to be looking at DSLR/mirrorless bodies. But that budget it going to be tough especially when you start looking at lenses. Is there any chance the paper can provide equipment? Back when I was the photo editor at the college paper we had a DLSR and 70-200/2.8 that could be checked-out for assignments.

Looks good. I loved my old Canon EF 70-200 f/4.0 and carried it about 90% of the time over the f/2.8 version. Glad to see I've got that option now with Sony as well as a cheaper lens that can be used for remotes.
