  1. I watched Splash last night. It was almost jarring to see the Trade Towers in the skyline. Skylines bring such story and history to memory!
  2. Yep, totally! I use the waist-level-viewfinder method so often too!
  3. Your gorgeous landscapes would look great in any crop!
  4. Oh, that is interesting! You can never go wrong following Rembrandt! Interesting that that painting is 4x5!
  5. What is your go-to lens and camera? Do you prefer flash or natural? I want to know all about it! I'm kind of a cat person. 🙂
  6. Yep! It takes work to differentiate ourselves no matter the medium. It has been eye opening for sure!
  7. I have heard the colors are much truer with Capture One. I have it and should play with it more!
  8. Could you tell me more about your process? I am wanting to try this!
  9. Crazy gorgeous, dear!! I love these!!!
  10. I have been wrestling with this too. In Luminar AI you can just drop in a sky or elements and I have no idea if they are true photographs or generated images. I would say I am more comfortable calling anything made from photographs photography, even if it is composited. Where I get stumped is in manipulation of photography. I smear and change pixels, so the original image no longer remains. Is that still photography? I can also use photographs as references in Corel Painter, but then it is no longer a photograph, but a new image made with digital paint. What is it and how does that fit in? I think it is just easier to call a spade a spade, especially for competitions. I don't know if the general public need to know the nuances of everything though as that could get tedious. For instance, if a client wants an image with a sky that looks a certain way--say a hotel that wants murals for rooms, I don't see the harm in compositing it or using AI generated effects to please them (unless they specifically want a true photograph). In the end it is about selling images one way or another, right? If we are honest about a hybrid process, then I think it is ok.
  11. I tend to adore squares. I think it stems from my love of shooting square with film, way back when. I may be an odd duck, but what aspect ratio is your favorite for printing? Why? Does anyone else panic when you have to make a gallery wall with different aspect ratios? Any tips? My walls are covered in squares, haha!
  12. I have always used Lightroom since the beginning. I have never really wanted anything else, but I was a bit sad when the stand alone programs ended. I like the cloud, but every month there are just so many things to renew. 🙂
  13. These are all thoughts I have not heard before. Thank you! It is all really thought provoking and helpful!
  14. Ok, so this covers a few things that I hadn't put together in my mind. I guess pay-to-play does level the playing field and makes working so hard for a huge following less important. That is kind of a relief, actually. The popularity component and having to 'dance for the camera' is just hard for me. A life of highlight reels isn't real life. I feel for me kids too!
