  1. If I use a lot of frames (more than 10) I go to Helicon Focus - it's a beast! Have done 30+ frame stacks...
  2. I felt the same Matt, but it's really kind of addicting 🙂
  3. It is not in the a7RIV though unless you are doing it manually
  4. Welcome to the forums - these are all gorgeous!
  5. The Sony 24-105mm for us landscape shooters. Tack-sharp lens even though it is not a GM.
  6. I was never one for focus stacking until I started playing with the a7RV - now I'm loving it. How about you a7RV owners? Do you find you are doing more focus stacks now that the camera makes it so easy to do?
  7. Excellent images - the a7RV is a great camera!
  8. Photographers already composite and the less scrupulous ones will put it out as a single click - so in a sense, it is already happening. I can tell you that Getty Images will not accept AI-generated imagery. Where it goes from here is anyone's guess. I'm more concerned that all photographers are being ripped-off financially as this software is pulling from images on the web - yours and mine included. I don't recall signing away the rights to my images in order for AI to generate new images. Maybe a class-action lawsuit???
  9. It completely depends on the luminosity value of the Aurora - they differ. A good overall starting point would be ISO 1600 wide open aperture (if lens is sharp enough). The time again will differ.
  10. I just returned from the Lofoten Islands, Norway and we had an incredible night of Northern Lights. I used my Sony a7RV + 12-24mm GM. Great combination! I also use the Sony 14mm f/1.8. What camera/lens combination do you use?
  11. I prefer sunrises over sunsets Drew, but I hate waking to an alarm - a necessary evil I'm afraid
  12. Ski racing. When I was young I was trying to make the US Ski Team. My knees started to require surgery and the dream was never accomplished. I did race professionally one year and raced against the legendary Jean-Claude Killy.
  13. Ansel Adams and Galen Rowell. Was fortunate enough to have met both before their passing.
  14. The latest Sony cameras produce such a sharp file that I find myself sharpening less and less. When I do need to sharpen, I use Topaz Sharpener AI
  15. I just finished teaching a workshop in the Lofoten Islands with Ron Modra. We did a lot of near/far compositions with the beautiful and frozen landscape. I love using the Sony 12-24mm f/2.8 GM. What is your favorite lens when shooting these types of landscapes?
  16. I tie Bright Monitoring to my Trash Can - an indispensable tool for night photography. How many of you use it?
  17. I enable my trash can for bright monitoring - awesome for night skies!
  18. Beautiful work Caroline! Have you tried focus stacking with the a7RV? It's AWESOME!
  19. Bing Crosby Pebble Beach National Pro-Am PGA golf event - are you ready??? February 1975!
  20. Decided not to follow through with it Caroline - schedule too busy as it is. Thanks for reply 🙂
  21. I have recently been asked to do a talk at a college in Cairo, Egypt on my photography. Debating if I should go and if I'd be safe. Has anyone recently traveled there? State Department adds to travel with caution...
  22. This looks cool! I have been traveling a ton and about to leave for rest of March - please keep us up to date!
  23. You could rent a high-power telescope with an adapter (B&H Photo). I was at an event for Sony pre-Covid where we did this and they had to send me away as I would have stayed out all night!!!
