Oh fun! I live so rural that I generally don't think about having to find a place with low light pollution. I will put that on my calendar!

I hope you get a good photo!

I don't have much experience with it, but @MattK did a piece on Alpha Universe on it! https://alphauniverse.com/stories/editing-eclipse-photos/

And another piece on preparing https://alphauniverse.com/stories/safely-capture-the-solar-eclipse/

Thank you! That helped a lot.

I'm waiting for filters to be restocked and have made a rough plan. Only issue I've found is that I cannot leave home to get the full eclipse, so I have to accept a partial one (85-90%). Which is very good for my first time.

I have a far fetched idea, since I don't have a modified camera. I would love to capture landscape shots of IR only and UV only captured landscape. I might write that on my bucket list.

I'm starting the process of planning for the Solar Eclipse for April 8, 2024. I have a vision in my head that I want to pull off, but not sure if it will work out because its something I've never done before.

My vision is to capture the solar eclipse above the Horseshoe bend of Niagara Falls. I'm imagining the water will be blurred to make that smooth water motion that's usually done with a slow shutter speed and filter with the solar eclipse at totality above it.

Any thoughts on how I should approach it? I was thinking I would have 2 camera set ups, 1 for the picture and one to do a timelapse?

@TrekRoverthat sounds amazing! Two cameras seem like a good idea, plus you could always pull stills from the time lapse camera as a backup. Definitely get a hotel booked soon. Lot's of stuff is already booked!

@tonygale Thanks! I got the hotel booked! It's going to be tricky though, hoping I can pull it off. I've been researching some articles of people who've photographed the previous solar eclipse. Time to start shopping for solar filters! :D

I just got a solar filter for the 600mm lens from bhp in the mail yesterday. Going to test it over the weekend and see how it turns out! Hopefully the sun is out as its been cloudy here the past several days. Still waiting for a backordered screw-on filter for the 200-600mm. It will be interesting to compare the image results of both once I get the other filter.
